    Hours of daylight in Belgium

    If you are thinking about what would be the best time for you to visit Belgium, you should also consider the day length: the time between sunrise and sunset. It goes from 8 hours in December to 16 hours in June.

    Overview of the year in Belgium: Temperature, Rainfall, Sunrise and Sunset

    Winter

    • December: 1st (8:23 -> 16:39), 15th (8:38 -> 16:36)
    • January: 1st (8:45 -> 16:47), 15th (8:38 -> 17:06)
    • February: 1st (8:18 -> 17:34), 15th (7:54 -> 17:59)

    If you visit Belgium during winter, don’t forget that the days are shorter. The sun rises at the latest (8:45) around the 1st of January. And the sun sets the earliest (16:36) around the 10th of December.

    All Belgian cities have Christmas lights from December 6th to January 6th. The period of Christmas lights is a bit longer in some cities.

    Spring

    • March: 1st (7:26 -> 18:32), 15th (6:56 -> 18:47)
    • Daylight saving time begins on the last Sunday of March
    • April: 1st (7:18 -> 20:15), 15th (6:47 -> 20:38)
    • May: 1st (6:16 -> 21:04), 15th (5:53 -> 21:25)

    We also have longer days in spring, and because of DST (daylight saving time), the sun sets late in the last months of the season.

    Summer

    • June: 1st (5:35 -> 21:46), 15th (6:56 -> 18:47)
    • July: 1st (5:34 -> 21:56), 15th (6:47 -> 20:38)
    • August: 1st (6:16 -> 21:04), 15th (5:53 -> 21:25)

    In the summer the sun rises at half past 5 and goes down at 10 pm. You will have plenty of time to see everything you want to see. It also stays nice and warm during the evening.

    Autumn

    • September: 1st (6:57 -> 20:25), 15th (7:19 -> 19:54)
    • October: 1st (7:44 -> 19:18), 15th (8:07 -> 18:48)
    • Daylight saving time ends on the last Sunday of October
    • November: 1st (7:35 -> 17:15), 15th (7:59 -> 16:54)

    In terms of hours of daylight, I think November is the worst month. We have short days. The sun sets early and the Christmas lights are only switched on at the end of November.
