Sunsets
For beautiful sunsets you need 2 things: you need a partially cloudy sky and you need to be able to see the sun. Most of the North of Belgium is at sea level and then the sun can’t disappear behind the mountains. And our skies are often partially cloudy. So you should be able to see a beautiful sunset at least once.
Staying in Belgium
There are a lot of very nice hotels and B&Bs in Belgium. It’s sometimes worthwhile to search for a room outside the city. Most cities in Belgium, except Antwerp, Brussels, and Ghent, are surrounded by nature and then your room has a much nicer view.
Traveling apart together
When you both have different interests, you can also easily split up.
In other countries, nice walking or cycling routes are often in the middle of nowhere. In Belgium, there is no middle of nowhere. There are always small towns nearby. Most routes pass by these small towns and it’s often easy to get there with public transport.
So if you don’t want to go hiking, but your partner does, then you can take the train to a small town and go to a museum or do some shopping. When your partner arrives in the small town, you can both do some sightseeing together and have dinner. You can then both take the train back home.
